The fee
The standard 32-page Ghana passport costs GH₵350. The government reduced the fee from GH₵500, and the new price took effect on 13 November 2025. Courier delivery of the passport is included at no extra charge.
Fees for the 48-page booklet and for the faster expedited service have changed several times since 2024, and the figures you will find online do not agree with each other. Check the current fee on the official portal, passport.mfa.gov.gh, before you pay. Treat any fee in a blog post, including this one, as something to confirm.
How long it takes
A standard application takes about 15 working days, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as reported by Graphic Online. An expedited service exists for urgent travel, but reports of how quick it is have varied, so confirm the timing on the portal when you apply.
If you already have a flight booked, apply as early as you can, and do not count on the expedited service being ready in time.
