The fees
Since 1 September 2025, a Nigerian passport applied for in Nigeria costs ₦100,000 for the 32-page booklet, which is valid for 5 years, and ₦200,000 for the 64-page booklet, which is valid for 10 years. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced the change in August 2025, and we found no later change.
Abroad, the fees are in dollars, and Nigerian missions add their own charges on top, so what people actually pay differs from country to country. Check the fee page of the embassy or high commission where you will apply. The Interior Minister has said applicants should pay nothing beyond the official fee.
