What the charms mean, and how to choose your three
Every personalised cover comes with three charms. Here is what each one tends to mean to the people who choose it, and some combinations that work well together.
The short answer
Every personalised cover comes with three gold charms, and you can add up to two more. Pick one for where you are going, one for how you travel and one for who you are, or choose a ready-made set such as Explorer: Compass, Eiffel Tower and Globe.

How it works
When you personalise a cover, you choose a colour, three gold charms and a name. The three charms are included in the price, and you can add up to two more for a small extra charge. You can drag each charm to where you want it on the cover, and the preview shows the cover as it will be made.
The charms
Airplane for someone who is always on a flight, or saving for the next one.
Eiffel Tower for Paris, whether you have been or it is the trip you are planning.
Compass for finding your way. People often choose it for a first big move abroad.
Globe for someone who wants to see the whole world, one stamp at a time.
King crown for the head of the family, or anyone who carries themselves like it.
Queen crown for the woman in charge.
Love for a partner, a honeymoon, or a gift from someone who loves them.
Camera for the person who photographs everything on every trip.
Ribbon a soft, pretty choice that suits gifts, birthdays and pink or light covers.
Ready-made sets of three
If you would rather not choose, the personalise page has four sets taken from covers our customers have already ordered:
- Explorer: Compass, Eiffel Tower and Globe.
- Sweetheart: Ribbon, Love and Camera.
- Royal: King crown, Eiffel Tower and Compass.
- Storyteller: Compass, King crown and Camera.
Choosing for yourself
Think of the three as a short story about how you travel. One charm for where you are going, one for how you travel, and one for who you are works well, for example Eiffel Tower, Camera and Queen crown. If you cannot decide, pick the one you would miss most if it were gone, then choose two that sit well beside it.
Choosing for a gift
Start with something you know about them: a place they love, a habit, or a joke between you. A cover with the Love charm and their name says more than any card. For a couple, two covers with the same three charms and different names make a set. Our Christmas gift guide has more ideas.
The name
Your name can be embossed, which means pressed into the leather in the same colour, or stamped on a small leather name strip that is riveted to the cover. One name or two short names fit.
